Topics BIOGRAPHY Patricia Dines has been a professional writer, public speaker, and graphic artist for over 25 years, serving many thousands of people through her books, newsletters, articles, workshops, and more. COLUMNIST. Ms. Dines currently writes the "Ask EcoGirl" column -- a syndicated eco-advice column with a geeky superhero twist -- and a fun logo! Patricia Dines has written articles about ecological and community topics for a variety of periodicals, including NorthBay biz magazine, Common Ground, The North Bay Bohemian, The West County Gazette, Steppin' Out magazine, The Environmental Impact Reporter, and The Sonoma County Peace Press. PUBLIC SPEAKER & TRAINER. She also loves connecting with people in person, and has designed, co-created, and spoken at events that have informed and empowered thousands of people. This includes talks and events for: The Health & Harmony Festival, Sustainable Sonoma County, The Peace & Justice Center, Alliance for Democracy, North Bay EcoFest, The Cancer Resource Center, and Community Market.
BACKGROUND AS A COMPUTER EDUCATOR. In addition, she brings to her work experience from her previous "incarnation" in the computer industry, where she empowered computer users by writing articles and technical manuals, doing training and training design, and as a computer programmer. For ten years, she served both small companies and major corporations, including Price Waterhouse, Peat Marwick, and EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute). POET & PHOTOGRAPHER. Patricia's poems have been published in We'Moon and Grace Millenium, as well as twice being winners in contests of the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Her photographs have been displayed in public shows, including Natives by Locals: Photographs of Flora and Fauna, and The Photographers Darkroom Photo Show. EDUCATION. Ms. Dines has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Duke University, with a full major in Theatre Arts (an early sign of her love for both the logical and creative). She was an Angier Biddle Duke Scholar, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
