PROFESSIONAL ECO-FREELANCER FOR HIRE

 MY BACKGROUND

I've been a professional writer, editor, and graphic artist for 25 years. I can write in a variety of styles on a variety of topics.

For the past 15 years, I've specialized in communicating about environmental and community topics. My work has included informative and empowering books (The Organic Guides), columns (Ask EcoGirl), newsletters (The Next STEP), and articles in a wide range of periodicals

I'm knowledgable about a wide range of environmental topics, including food and agriculture, energy, waste, toxics, systems thinking, social justice, economic solutions, and more.

I also know the key quality resources for deeper information, and am excited by the many wonderful people who are creating the effective alternatives and solutions, thus helping make a brighter future possible for us all.

 MY OFFERINGS

* For your publication, I am available to write articles that offer constructive, inspiring, and accurate eco-information. You can also sign up to publish my monthly Ask EcoGirl eco-advice column, with it's cheerful eco-geek superhero logo.

* I can also assist individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies in creating inspiring and accurate information that effectively communicates your compelling message.

* The skills that I bring to help achieve these goals include: Writing, Editing, Interviewing, Researching, Graphic Arts, Training, Public Speaking, Workshop Design -- and more!

 MY APPROACH

My overall goal with my environmental work is to provide inspiring and useful information that empowers constructive action for the earth. I believe that this is wise for both practical and emotional reasons, and that human beings are happier when we're connected to and respectful of the planet.

For the past 15 years I've been exploring the best ways to encourage effective action. I find that many readers are excited by the approach that I take, which is to get them "up to speed" in a direct fact-based non-technical way, then offer them tangible actions they can take to be part of the solution. They often tell me that they're delighted to have someone talk to them about eco-issues in ways that don't feel depressing, difficult, and full of shame. Instead they find out what I've discovered -- that taking eco-action can feel good and be fun!

My first step when taking on a project is to listen to and seek to understand my client, editor, and readers, so that I can create communications that meet their particular needs and styles

I also take the extra effort in my work to provide quality information -- to look beneath the surface, listen to different viewpoints, think critically, get the facts right, and look for the true win/win solutions.

Because of these approaches, my offerings stand out from other eco-writing in their tone, accuracy, and effectiveness.

 MY KEY OUTCOMES

* Competently and compassionately illuminate environmental issues and offerings for a wide range of audiences

* Tangibly and constructively empower people to green their everyday lives and walk more gently on the earth

* Help readers feel joyfully inspired to take action, instead of discouraged and depressed about these topics

* Consistently meet deadlines, and get the facts right

"I've worked with Patricia very closely in creating The Next STEP newsletter
for the last two years.

She is an excellent researcher, a dedicated worker,
and an exceptional writer. She can distill a
tremendous amount of information down to the core ideas,
and make the final result look easy.

She consistently keeps both her clients and her audience in mind,
and always comes up with solution that pleases them both.
I highly recommend her."

"We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom.
The world henceforth will be run by the synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely."
